Community App — Phase 1 Limited Release

MarigoldShare

Borrowing from a friend is not just practical. It is the kind of small interaction that builds real community. MarigoldShare makes it easy.

Things Were Different When People Needed Each Other

There is a reason people in resource-scarce communities used to know their neighbors by name. When you needed to borrow a ladder, a truck, or a bag of flour, you knocked on a door. The person who answered became someone you knew. Those small exchanges — asking and helping, lending and returning — were the fabric of community life.

Cheap goods changed that. When anything can be bought for a few dollars and delivered by tomorrow, you stop needing the people around you. But the calculus has shifted again in a different direction: real estate is expensive, storage space is a luxury, and the average household fills with things used a handful of times. The cost is not money — it is space, clutter, and the quiet loss of reasons to interact.

MarigoldShare is built on a simple idea: an easy way to borrow from people you already trust does not just solve a practical problem. It brings back the kind of small interactions that make a group of acquaintances feel like a community.

What Is MarigoldShare?

Borrowing, Organized

MarigoldShare is a community mobile app (Android) for borrowing and lending physical items within a trusted group of friends. Members list items they are willing to lend, make borrow requests, track active loans, and handle any shared costs — all within a small, invitation-only community they control.

There is no marketplace, no ratings from strangers, and no transactions with people you do not know. MarigoldShare is designed exclusively for groups that already have a foundation of trust and want a lightweight tool to make sharing practical.

Currently in Phase 1 limited release and approaching MVP. Features and availability are subject to change.

Who It's For

People Who Already Know Each Other

MarigoldShare is for real-world social circles — a group of neighbors, a circle of close friends, a family network, a community organization. Not a marketplace for strangers; a tool for people who already trust one another and want a simple, organized way to share.

If your group has ever passed tools around informally, coordinated shared equipment, or just wanted to know who still has the camping stove — MarigoldShare brings that informal system into a lightweight app that keeps it honest and frictionless.

How It Works

Simple community-based borrowing and lending, with just enough structure to keep things fair.

Join a Trusted Community

Create a community or join one by invitation. Communities are small by design — people you know personally. You control who is in your group.

List Items and Make Requests

List items you are willing to lend — tools, sports equipment, kitchen appliances, books, camping gear, and more. Browse what others have available and request what you need.

Track Loans and Returns

The app keeps a transparent record of active borrows, return status, and item history within your community. No more forgotten loans or disputed returns.

Community Bill Splitting

When shared costs arise, the app's community bill-splitting system tracks who owes what across the group — settled monthly among active members.

What You Can Share

MarigoldShare is designed for everyday physical items with a declared replacement value up to $300.

  • Tools and hardware — drills, saws, ladders, and other household tools
  • Sports and outdoor equipment — bikes, kayaks, camping gear, sports gear
  • Kitchen appliances — stand mixers, food processors, specialty cookware
  • Books, games, and media
  • Baby and child equipment — strollers, carriers, play equipment
  • Photography and audio equipment
  • Party and event supplies
  • Musical instruments

Community Principles

MarigoldShare is built on trust, not enforcement. These principles keep that trust intact.

  • Trust-first — communities are invitation-only; you choose who participates
  • Replacement value cap of $300 — keeps the stakes proportionate for informal lending
  • Transparent history — every borrow and return is visible to community members
  • Human resolution — disputes are mediated by community admins, not automated systems
  • No platform payments — all cost-sharing is settled peer-to-peer among members
  • Privacy by default — your data is never sold or used for advertising
